Opioid addiction has become a major public health issue. In response to the crisis, individuals, organizations, and elected officials across the country have responded by educating their communities about the dangers of prescription painkillers, providing resources and treatment for those dealing with substance abuse, and by taking legislative action to reduce the accessibility to these drugs.
Naugatuck and neighboring towns have taken similar steps to address the problem. Next Tuesday, October 29th, I will be joining State Senators George Logan, Joan Hartley, State Representatives Nicole Klarides-Ditria, David Labriola, Lezlye Zupkus, Kara Rochelle, and House Republican Leader Themis Klarides for an opioid forum at Naugatuck High School. Tuesday, October 29th, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A panel of public health experts, including state and local officials, and addiction specialists will discuss addiction as well as the heroin and opioid epidemic. A question and answer period will follow. This event is free and open to the public.
