Over the last two weeks, the Reopen Connecticut Advisory Group has released guidance for businesses allowed to open on May 20 as part of Phase 1 of Connecticut’s business reopening plan. Under this first phase, restaurants are able to open with outdoor-only dining and must follow strict cleaning and social distancing guidelines. I have heard from many residents and business owners who have supported an alternative approach for restaurants to open with indoor seating, excluding bar areas, on May 20. This alternative approach includes outdoor dining as well and keeps the same sanitary and social distancing standards in place.
