Posted on December 13, 2024

HARTFORD – House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora today announced that State Representative Joe Polletta (R-68) will serve as Ranking Member of the legislature’s Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee for the upcoming 2025-2026 legislative term.
“Connecticut is in an affordability crisis and taxpayers are bearing the burden of state fiscal policy that has driven our cost of living to among the highest in the nation. Young people starting to build their careers, parents striving to provide for their children, entrepreneurs looking to grow their business, or our seniors wanting to retire in their homes are feeling the pressure of weighty state taxes and fees at every turn. Connecticut needs strong leadership to get our house in order,” Rep. Joe Polletta said. “The fiscal safeguards enacted by Republicans in 2017 have put Connecticut on a path of stability and I look forward to working with any of my colleagues who will commit to uphold them. We cannot go back to a cycle of tax increases and budget deficits.”
Ranking Members serve as key leaders to caucus members regarding the important issues from each individual committee and play an important role in shaping legislation.
“Representative Joe Polletta’s appointment as House Ranking Member of the Finance Committee reflects his strong commitment to making Connecticut more affordable for families and businesses,” said House Minority Leader Vincent Candelora. “Joe understands the financial pressures facing our residents in one of the most expensive states in the nation, and he’s dedicated to crafting policies that ease the burden on taxpayers while promoting economic growth. His leadership will be pivotal as we work toward keeping our state’s finances stable and building an affordable future for all Connecticut residents.”
“I value the work of my colleagues who led this committee before me, and I am honored to serve in this post. It is such a critical moment for our state and due time that our budgets serve the people of Connecticut, so that all can afford the opportunity to call it home,” Rep. Polletta said.
The Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee is the legislature’s second largest committee with crucial oversight relating to finance, revenue, capital bonding, fees and taxation.
