(l to r): State Representative John Piscopo (R-76), Burlington First Selectman Ted Shafer, Ms. Christina Flaherty and second graders from Lake Garda Elementary School at the Burlington Town Hall on Thursday, May 30, 2019.

Rep. Piscopo and First Selectman Shafer spent time with the students engaging in an interactive conversation about the inner workings of municipal and state government, followed by some insightful questions.

“I was glad to meet with students from Lake Garda Elementary School for an unexpected visit while they received a tour from First Selectman Shafer. It just so happened that as I was on my way in to the Capitol in Hartford and Ted invited me to drop in, and I am so glad I did,” said Rep. Piscopo. I commend these young students for the excellent job they did listening to information about state and local government, and demonstrating an interest in the information we discussed with them. They had some really great questions!”

“Sincere thanks to our State Representative John Piscopo for joining me in speaking with a visiting 2nd grade Burlington Lake Garda Elementary School class.  The students were thrilled to spend time with John and learn more about what he does at the State Legislature. Each spring, I host tours of Town Hall for all the 2nd grade classes at Lake Garda School.  It has continued to be a wonderful tradition and valuable civic experience for our younger residents,” said Burlington First Selectman Ted Shafer.
