Route 8 Southbound Exit 39 On-Ramp Closure in Thomaston

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that the on-ramp closure of Exit 39 on Route 8 southbound in Thomaston will begin soon.

The project consists of addressing impacts from Hurricane Ida that occurred September 2, 2021 to the slope on the west side of Route 8 Southbound. The project will provide slope stabilization, reset of existing guiderails and repair the pavement structure.

DOT Project No. 0140-0176 was awarded to Dayton Construction Company Incorporated on October 7, 2021. Construction is scheduled to start in October 2021 and to be completed in December 2021. This project is administered by the Office of Construction District 4 in Thomaston.

DETOUR INFO

There will be lane closures on Route 8 to install concrete barrier Monday through Friday 7:00 pm to 5:00 am. Once the exit ramp is closed, construction operations will be completed during daytime work hours.

The following detour will be used: follow East Main Street to the South Main Street intersection, take a left onto South Main Street and follow to Waterbury Road, stay Straight onto Waterbury Road and veer right onto Route 8 Southbound Exit 38 On Ramp.
