State Rep. John Piscopo (R-76) joined Thomaston First Selectman, Edmond Mone, along with town officials, residents, and guests in offering their congratulations to this year’s Thomaston Distinguished Citizen of the Year, Jud Reed.  During a Thomaston Rotary Club banquet held in his honor on May 10th, Reed was presented with a citation from the Connecticut General Assembly in recognition of his achievement.

Reed, a Thomaston resident, was chosen for the honor of being named the 2019 Distinguished Citizen of the year by the Rotary Club of Thomaston. Award recipients are chosen for their dedication and contribution to the Thomaston community, and Reed is the 36th recipient of this award.

“I was honored to recognize and present Jud Reed with a citation on behalf of the Connecticut General Assembly for being named this year’s Distinguished Citizen and a notable volunteer,” said Rep. Piscopo.  “Mr. Reed is a real asset to the town of Thomaston and his dedication, volunteerism and genuine support for our community have served as a model for all of us. We are forever grateful for his many contributions.”

“Every year the town of Thomaston upholds this wonderful tradition of honoring our dedicated volunteers. Mr. Reed is a model citizen and a true inspiration to the rest of us,” said Thomaston First Selectman, Ed Mone, who recognized Mr. Reed’s achievement with a proclamation from the Town of Thomaston.

The award for civic involvement has been presented annually since 1975.
