HARTFORD – The Connecticut General Assembly convened the 2025 session on Wednesday, January 8th, beginning this year’s law-making period. State Rep. John Piscopo (R-76) was sworn-in to his new term. The current session will run for a five-month period, concluding on Wednesday, June 4th. After setting the procedural rules on Opening Day, the legislature held a joint session with the Senate and Judicial branch to hear the Governor’s State of the State address.

“It’s a great honor representing the good people and businesses of the 76th District. I look forward to advocating for policies that will help improve the lives of residents, focusing on affordability, and making our state a more attractive place for businesses,” said Piscopo, who is an established leader in Hartford’s political arena.

In addition to affordability, the legislature is poised to tackles several other issues. You can learn about them in the 2025 “Major Issues Report.” Click here to access it.
