PLAINVILLE – State Representative William A. Petit Jr.(R-22) and Sen. Henri Martin (R-31) were on hand to congratulate Toffolon Elementary School Art teacher Michael Zaba on being named Milken Educator Award Winner for the 2018-2019 year.
“I congratulate Mr. Zaba on winning this amazing award due to his enthusiastic and innovative approach to teaching STEM to his young students. He is a great part of the excellent teaching team at Toffolon Elementary School and graciously shared credit for his achievement with his fellow teachers and staff. Plainville is grateful for his contributions to his students,” Rep. Petit said.

With new legislation effective dates typically falling on January 1st, July 1st, and October 1st throughout the calendar year, several new laws have taken effect as of January 1st.

AN ACT CONCERNING MAMMOGRAMS, BREAST ULTRASOUNDS AND MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING OF BREASTS
AN ACT CONCERNING DUAL ARRESTS AND THE TRAINING REQUIRED OF LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL WITH RESPECT TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
This new law, PA 18-5, will reduce the number of dual arrests that occur in domestic violence cases and enhance domestic violence training offered to state and local law enforcement agencies. For a summary, click here.
AN ACT CONCERNING HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR PROSTHETIC DEVICES
This new law, PA-18-69, requires certain health insurance policies to cover prosthetic devices, and medically necessary repairs and replacements to them, subject to specified conditions. For a summary, click here.
