Rep. Petit Kicks Off New Session, Highlights Priorities

HARTFORD On Wednesday, State Representative William A. Petit Jr. (R-22) joined his fellow Republican and Democrat colleagues on the floor of the house, officially kicking off the 2022 legislative session.

A few of Rep. Petit’s legislative priorities for this year include restoring public safety, improving portions of the police accountability bill, and protections for officers getting mental health assessments so they can seek treatment without fear of discipline or losing their jobs.

Rep. Petit and Sen. Martin Host Informational Meeting to Discuss Covanta’s Request to Burn Medical Waste

Last night, Sen. Martin and Rep. Petit held an informational meeting at the Plainville library to provide area residents with an opportunity to have their voices heard and questions answered regarding the possibility of Covanta, a local Waste-to-Energy plant, being allowed to burn medical waste at their facility.

Covanta seeks to adjust a current permit with the City of Bristol that would allow them to convert a portion (8%) of their trash-burning to medical waste.

HARTFORD – On Saturday, December 18th, State Representative William A. Petit Jr. (R-22) will be volunteering to help raise money for local families this holiday season by ringing bells as part of the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.

Rep. Petit Highlights Importance of Increasing Diversity in Education

This morning I was invited to a press conference at North End Elementary School in New Britain to highlight the Teacher Residency Program (TRP). This apprenticeship program is designed to help increase diversity in education by providing people interested in teaching with an avenue to become educators.
