PLAINVILLE – State Representative William A. Petit Jr. (R-22) and State Senator Henri Martin (R-31) are encouraging area residents to ‘Retire Your Worn American Flags’ for a proper retirement. Flags will be collected beginning Tuesday, May 31st through Friday, June 10th at two drop off locations within the 22nd House District.

Collection Sites:

Plainville Public Library, 56 E. Main Street
Plainville Municipal Center, 1 Central Square

The U.S. Flag Code specifies that the flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning. All flags collected during this time will be brought to a local veteran’s organization for a proper retirement ceremony.
