(HARTFORD) — On Wednesday, State Representative Jason Perillo (R-Shelton) testified in support of Senate Bill 390, An Act Concerning Penalties for Election Crimes, which would implement penalties for certain election crimes, such as the crimes caught on video during the 2023 Bridgeport election. In his testimony, Perillo supports implementing 12-month sentences for certain crimes, such as stuffing absentee ballot drop-boxes, and other dishonest voting practices.

Perillo said, “Our state has a pattern of ignoring election fraud and even rewarding repeat offenders with leadership positions in their local political party. It’s time to hold these criminals accountable and penalize election fraud, especially since many state races often are decided by one or two votes.”
