(SHELTON) — Recently, the Connecticut Department of Economic & Community Development’s (DECD) Office of the Arts announced a total of $1,050,000 in state arts grants for CT arts organizations and municipalities. In their announcement, three arts organizations in Shelton received roughly $14,000 in separate grants to support theater, town events, and other relevant programs.

The following Shelton-based art organizations were awarded grants from the Supporting Arts Grant Program:

  • cARTie Corp.
  • Center Stage Theatre
  • Valley Shakespeare Festival

On behalf of the state legislature, I want to personally congratulate these groups for their awards and thank them for their investment in our community through a diverse expression of the arts! I am excited to see the many benefits of these grants within Shelton and throughout our state.

The Supporting Arts grant program provides general operating support to Connecticut arts organizations and municipal arts departments. This type of grant is flexible and gives the grantee the ability to use the funds where they are most needed. State and federal funds, from the National Endowment for the Arts, support this program.
