State Senator Kevin Kelly and Representatives Ben McGorty and Jason Perillo in partnership with the Shelton Senior Center hosted their annual Shelton Senior Health Fair on Monday, October 25, 2021.

The event connected seniors with resources and information on issues such as mental health care, identity theft resources, veterans’ services, probate estates, substance abuse services, and local transportation services. On-site flu vaccinations and COVID-19 vaccinations were available, as well as vision screenings and blood pressure readings.

“It was great to see so many organizations back together to provide important resources and support,” said Sen. Kelly. “I appreciate all those who came out to provide information, conduct screenings, and administer vaccinations to our local seniors.”

“We’re always grateful to the Senior Center staff for opening up the facility so that we can share important information with Shelton’s seniors. The team there does an amazing job and we’re always happy to join them in making the lives of Shelton’s senior citizens safer and more enjoyable,” said Rep. Perillo.

“Although I was not able to attend the Senior Fair in person this year, this event has historically been an excellent way to directly connect Shelton’s spirited senior community with critical services and resources, and this year was no different,” Rep. McGorty said. “My thanks go to the Shelton Senior Center and their partners for continuing to deliver assistance to our seniors exactly where they are needed, and doing so safely.”

Participating organizations included BHCare, Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Naugatuck Valley Health District, Lions of Shelton and Derby, End Hunger Connecticut!, Griffin Hospital, Valley Transit District, and many more.
