PURA Approves $80M Rate Adjustment to Enhance the State’s EV Charging Grid

It was announced today that PURA has approved an $80 million electric rate adjustment for both Eversource and United Illuminating customers to enhance the EV charging grid.

This is outrageous…. This adjustment comes on the back of a recent electricity rate increase tacked onto your bills to help recover the costs of shut off moratorium that lasted four years.
There should be an assessment of those individuals who want to utilize this benefit. Everyone should not be responsible for paying for the less than 2.5% of the population in our state who are currently driving an EV.

Our Republican caucus will continue to call on governor’s office to bring the entire legislature into special session so that we can begin to work on solutions that provide our constituents with much needed relief.
