Remembering the Victims of September 11, 2001

Nineteen years ago, nearly 3,000 innocent lives perished in four coordinated terrorist attacks on American soil. 162 victims had ties to Connecticut, and their loss left our communities in mourning.
Tomorrow, New Canaan will pay tribute to those we lost with a remembrance ceremony at Town Hall beginning at 9:59 a.m.
Due to the ongoing public health crisis, room is limited, so the event will be live streamed to NCTV79 (Channel 79 on cable). It will also be available on Facebook Live on the Town of New Canaan Facebook page: facebook.com/TownofNewCanaan
The ceremony will honor and pay respects to those lost, including three New Canaan residents, Joe Coppo, Brad Fetchet, and Eamon McEneaney, offer condolences to survivors, and honor all first responders and our police and fire departments.
The ceremony will include comments from First Selectman Kevin Moynihan, President of New Canaan EMS Barbara Clayton, and a benediction from Rev. Dr. Stephen Chapin Garner of the Congregational Church.
Please join us, whether in person or virtually, as we remember the victims of September 11, 2001, their families, and our common goal of building a better and safer world in the aftermath of America’s darkest hour.
May we never forget the victims, and may we always remember the things that unite us as a nation.
