This Friday, January 31stthe Transportation Committee will hold a public hearing on the governor’s transportation plan, which includes a proposal for tolls on trucks.

Regardless of where you stand on the issue of tolls, this is your opportunity to make your voice heard, and I highly encourage you to do so. Your commitment and time given to providing testimony is greatly appreciated and much needed during this important legislative process.

    See below for details:

    Who: Transportation Committee

What: Public Hearing on Bill Concerning Trucks-Only Tolls Proposal

Where: Hearing Room 1E, Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Ave., Hartford

When: This Friday, January 31st, 2020 beginning at 1:00 p.m.

    How to Testify in Person

    • Come to Hearing Room 1E in the Legislative Office Building (LOB) on Friday, January 31st, 2020.

    • Signups will be conducted via a lottery system and numbers will be drawn between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in Room 2300 of the LOB to determine the speaking order.

    • The first hour of the hearing is reserved for elected officials.

    • Speakers will be limited to three minutes of testimony.

    • Please submit 55 copies of written testimony to the Transportation Committee staff (same time and location mentioned above).

    • Tips and FAQs about testifying are available on our website by clicking here.

    How to Submit Testimony Online

    • Send a brief email ASAP to TRAtestimony@cga.ct.gov.

    • Reference Draft Bill LCO #373 in the subject line.

    • Include your name and town.

    • You may copy me on the email at Tom.ODea@housegop.ct.gov if you choose to do so.

    • Feel free to attend the hearing on Friday and listen to what others have to say.

Directions: Set your GPS to 300 Capitol Avenue. That is the address of the Legislative Office Building (LOB). As you come to the intersection of 300 Capitol Avenue and Hungerford Street make a right onto Hungerford Street and wrap around the building until you see the entrance to the parking garage. Park wherever you find a spot. If no spots are available, which happens periodically, you’ll be directed to a couple of nearby parking lots.

Come into the building through the front doors on Hungerford Street and come through security. Restrooms and the cafeteria are on the first floor if you’d like something to eat or drink. There is also a smaller satellite cafeteria in the 3rd floor atrium.

If you are unable to attend, but would like to discuss the issue of tolls with me, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am happy to help in any way possible.
