Honoring Our Fallen Soldiers – Memorial Day 2020

Honoring Our Fallen Soldiers – Memorial Day 2020

    Dear Friends,

On this Memorial Day weekend, please remember the more than 1.3 million American soldiers who have died for our freedom and our way of life. We, as citizens of this great country, will always be bound together by our shared belief in personal liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and a better life for all.

Unfortunately, the usual pomp and circumstance surrounding this holiday will take a new form this year as parades and in-person ceremonies have been deemed not safe.

While our annual traditions will be put on hold for 2020, we will continue to honor our fallen soldiers in the age of social distancing. See below for more information about how New Canaan and Wilton will be paying tribute to our heroes.

A Memorial Day ceremony has been recorded at Lakeview Cemetery with VFW Post

    Wilton

Commander Mike Kellett of the American Legion Department of Connecticut, 3rd District (Fairfield County) has created a special virtual tribute. Click here to view.

I hope you will all join me in observing this uniquely American holiday as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may all live our lives with freedom, security, and the promise of better days ahead.

    Warm regards,

    State Representative Tom O’Dea
