COVID-19 Vaccination: Eligibility and Current Timeline

I would like to provide you with an update on the COVID-19 vaccine distribution process in Connecticut. The information below is based on the latest details released by the governor’s office and the state’s Department of Public Health (DPH).
Please note that some of this information may change, and should that happen, I will let you know as soon as possible.
Phase 1a
Phase 1a included healthcare professionals, medical first responders, and nursing home residents and employees. More than 160,000 residents have now received the vaccination under this phase, which began a month ago today.
Phase 1b
Phase 1b will begin on Monday, January 18. Seniors ages 75 and up will be in the first wave and may now register for an appointment.

If you fall into this category, I encourage you to register as soon as possible should you choose to be vaccinated.
In addition to registering online using the link above, there are two additional ways to register for the vaccination:
- Healthcare Providers: Over 100 healthcare providers statewide are offering the vaccine. Keep an eye on this page for updated information regarding locations.
- Telephone: You may call the Connecticut COVID Vaccine Appointment Assistance Line at 877-918-2224. This line will be available Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. A call-back option will be available.
Individuals in the following groups will also be eligible under Phase 1b in the coming weeks (specific dates have yet to be announced):
- Frontline essential workers
- Residents and staff in congregate settings
- Individuals between the ages of 65 – 74
- Individuals between the ages of 16 – 64 with comorbidities – i.e. those with two or more health conditions
Click here for details regarding who qualifies as a frontline essential worker or congregate setting staff member or resident.
Next Phases
As the rollout continues into more phases, we expect that vaccines will be available to the general public at pharmacies, doctors’ offices, community health clinics, local health clinics, as well as through other providers. The vaccine is given in two doses. The State of Connecticut is not mandating anyone to receive the vaccination.
