Committee to Vote on Local Zoning Legislation Tomorrow!

Committee to Vote on Local Zoning Legislation Tomorrow!
This article was archived from the previous WordPress site. Formatting and media should be close, but may not match the original post perfectly.

The legislature’s Planning and Development Committee will be voting tomorrow on multiple bills that would threatened “home rule” of local zoning matters. If these bills are approved by the committee, they would be sent to the full Connecticut House and Senate for a vote.

As I’ve said before, providing more affordable housing should be a top priority for all Connecticut municipalities, but these issues are best dealt with at the local level where land use experts understand the needs of their towns.

Below are the two proposals that could have the most profound impact on local zoning decisions, but I encourage you to read the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting as there are several related bills that will also be discussed.

Senate Bill 1066 – An Act Concerning (AAC) Municipalities and Shares Services

    AND

Senate Bill 1024 – AAC Zoning Authority, Certain Design Guidelines, Qualifications of Certain Land Use Officials and Certain Sewage Disposal Systems
