Serving in the United States military is one of the greatest callings our nation has to offer. Our retired service members have fought for our freedoms and way of life with unwavering loyalty, dedication, and bravery, and in the process have spent months and years away from their families to protect our own.
This American holiday began as Armistice Day when at the 11th minute, on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the Allies of World War I and Germany signed the agreement ending the Great War. The holiday was officially named Veterans Day in 1954.

To each and every one of you in New Canaan and Wilton who have answered our country’s call to service, we thank you.
You are our heroes, and you make us all proud to be Americans.
