HARTFORD – House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora has named State Representative Tammy Nuccio (R-53rd) as the Ranking Member of the state’s Appropriations Committee, for the session that begins on January 8, 2025. A Ranking Member serves as the leader of the minority party in committee meetings and works with the Committee Leadership to bring forward legislation.
The committee has cognizance of all matters relating to appropriations and the budgets of state agencies. Other issues under the committee’s jurisdiction include matters relating to state employees’ salaries, benefits and retirement, teachers’ retirement and veterans’ pensions and collective bargaining agreements and arbitration awards for all state employees.
House Leader Candelora’s selection returns Rep. Nuccio to a role she has served in since 2022. Representative Nuccio has focused on fiscal responsibility and community engagement, advocating for commonsense fiscal policies, local resources, healthcare, and energy assistance, among many critical needs for the state.
“I am honored to be reappointed to the Appropriations Committee and deeply grateful to Minority Leader Vincent Candelora for his trust,” said Rep. Nuccio. “As Connecticut continues to navigate economic challenges, it is critical that we maintain the fiscal guardrails that have helped restore stability to our state’s finances. I remain committed to advocating for policies that ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely, prioritize essential services, and reflect the values of our community. Together, we can build a stronger financial future for Connecticut while safeguarding opportunities for generations to come.”
