HARTFORD – Members of the public will have an opportunity to have their voices heard about the massive spike in electric bills. Rep. Tammy Nuccio, R-Tolland, has continued to hear from constituents throughout Tolland, Vernon and Willington about these high costs and is encouraging the public to testify in order to create the pressure needed for legislative change.

On Thursday, March 6th at 10:30 a.m., a Public Hearing will take place in Room 1D of the Legislative Office Building before the Energy & Technology Committee.  The full agenda can be viewed by clicking here.

The second bill on the agenda, SB 647 An Act Concerning Protections for Consumer Access to Affordable Electricity, is co-sponsored by Rep. Nuccio and would repeal state-mandated fees on electric bills, such as the costs of EV chargers.

Earlier this year, she supported a comprehensive six-point plan aimed at reducing your monthly utility bills, both in the short and long term. And she introduced a package of legislation focused on reducing energy costs, including studying the expanded use of natural gas and reducing fees on our electric bills.

Rep. Nuccio is encouraging members of the public to use this hearing on March 6 to share with the committee how these high energy prices are affecting you, your family, and your business.

If you’d like to participate, please sign up by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5th. To register for in-person testimony, click here. The speaker order will be posted in the evening on March 5th.
