Scheduled Closure and Detour of Route 156 at the Niantic River Drawbridge in East Lyme and Waterford
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the scheduled closure and detour of Route 156 over the Niantic River from 7 p.m. on June 22, 2021, to 7 a.m. on June 23, 2021. A temporary deviation from drawbridge operation regulations will also occur during the scheduled timeframe.
The closure and detour are necessary to facilitate construction activities on the bridge structure.
The detour route is an 8-mile loop:
- From Route 156 east, follow Route 161 north to Route 1 east to Niantic River Road south.
- From Route 156 west, follow Niantic River Road north to Route 1 west to Route 161 south.
