Dear Millstone neighbor,

As a neighbor of Millstone Power Station, you may have noticed some increased activity at the station over the past few weeks. These activities are associated with the upcoming regularly scheduled refueling outage for Unit 2. During the course of the outage, we will be refueling the reactor, performing maintenance, and preparing the unit for the next 18 months of operation. This will ensure Millstone is prepared to supply power to the region’s electric grid to meet demand for electricity this winter and, looking ahead, next summer. The outage is expected to last about a month.

Please know that we continue to take careful measures in accordance with state and federal guidelines to protect workers at the site amidst COVID-19. We are practicing strict social distancing and providing our workers with the appropriate personal protective equipment like masks, gloves, and face shields, so that they can work safely when social distancing is not possible.

We plan to begin the refueling outage this evening. As you know, taking a unit offline requires the venting of steam, which can be noisy. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you.
