Dear Millstone neighbor,

As a neighbor of Millstone Power Station, you may have noticed some increased activity at the station over the past several weeks. These activities are associated with the upcoming regularly scheduled refueling outage on Unit 3. During the course of the outage we will be performing maintenance, refueling the reactor, and preparing the unit for the next 18 months of operation. This will ensure that there is sufficient electricity to meet demand this winter and looking ahead, next summer. The outage is expected to last about a month.

This outage is different because it is taking place during a pandemic. We are taking measures in accordance with state and federal guidelines to protect workers at the site. We are practicing strict social distancing and are providing our workers with the appropriate personal protective equipment like masks, gloves, and face shields, so that they can work safely when social distancing is not possible.

We will be taking Unit 3 off-line later today. As you know, this process requires the venting of steam, which can be noisy. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Thank you,

Nancy Bulkeley, Senior Community Affairs Representative
