Just in time for Valentine’s Day, State Representative Kathleen McCarty (R-38) in partnership with the Waterford Police Department today announced the kickoff of a fleece blanket collection to provide new, warm fleece blankets to residents at Waterford’s three nursing homes.
The collection period will run for a little more than two weeks from Wednesday, January 26th through Friday, February 11th. Rep. McCarty and Waterford Police will distribute the donated blankets to Waterford’s Greentree Manor, New London Rehab & Care, and Bayview Healthcare.
“With cold weather upon us now is a perfect time to share the warmth of the Valentine’s Day holiday with others by donating a new fleece blanket to a local nursing home resident,” Rep. McCarty said. “Every donation makes a difference which will undoubtedly brighten a nursing home resident’s day while also keeping them warm.”
Donation boxes will be available from January 26th through February 11th at one of these community partner locations:
- Waterford Town Hall – 15 Rope Ferry Rd
- Waterford Community Center – 24 Rope Ferry Rd
- Waterford Police Department – 41 Avery Ln
Once the donations are collected, Rep. McCarty and Waterford Police will deliver the collections to the three long term care facilities on Valentine’s Day the following Monday.
