- Investing in local infrastructure is good for the commmunity
State Representative Tracy Marra joined Mayor Harry Rilling, State Senator Duff, local officials and community members for the groundbreaking of the Veteran's Park Marina Dock project on Wednesday afternoon, October 15th.
"This is great news for Norwalk, especially for the the boaters and fishermen who will now have state of the art and safe access to these new slips and the harbor itself," Rep. Marra said.
According to the official announcement, "this project represents a long-awaited effort led by the City's Department of Recreation and Parks and the Engineering Division of the Norwalk Department of Public Works.
"The project includes the complete removal and replacement of all existing floats, pilings, fixed piers, and ramps, in accordance with a new facility design that improves access and functionality. The renovated marina will provide berthing for vessels between 20 and 25 feet in length and is a designated space for dinghies serving harbor mooring locations, and accommodations for personal watercraft. Additional site improvements will include restoration of adjacent tidal wetlands and reconfiguration of the parking area to enhance traffic flow and overall site efficiency."
Funding is being provided by the Connecticut Port Authority through the Small Harbor Improvement Projects Program (SHIPP). The project is located at 10 Seaview Avenue (the east mooring field side).
