DOT Construction Advisory: Bridge Upgrades: Osborne Avenue Under the Metro-North Railroad Bridge in Norwalk

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced that preparations for upgrades to the Metro-North Railroad Bridge (New Haven Mainline) over Osborne Avenue in Norwalk will begin on Monday, January 15, 2024.

The preparation work consists of installing a girder support system to prepare for significant upgrades to the bridge later this year, which includes a new superstructure and rehabilitation of the substructure.

The project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 5 in New Haven.

DETOUR INFO

The Osborne Avenue Railroad Bridge will be closed between Rowan Street and Fort Point Street from January 15, 2024, to March 7, 2024. Drivers will be detoured to Van Zant and Fort Point Street.

METRO-NORTH SERVICE CHANGE

Metro-North also announced a change to the New Haven Line beginning on January 16th.

The 6:07 p.m. train from Grand Central to New Haven will not run. The 6:12 p.m. train from Grand Central to Bridgeport will be extended to New Haven and make the stops of both trains.
