    1) Acceptance of terms

    By accessing our websites or using the Metta app (the “Services”), you agree to these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

    2) Who we are

    The Services are operated by the Connecticut House Republican Office, a legislative caucus. Our sites/app are run by state-employee communications staff.

    3) Public records notice

    Communications with us—including submissions through website forms or the Metta app and emails sent to our offices—may constitute public records and could be disclosed in response to Connecticut FOIA requests, subject to statutory exemptions and limitations. We cannot guarantee how requesters will use information after disclosure. Justia

    4) Use of the Services

    You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes and consistent with these Terms. You will not:

    • Interfere with or disrupt the Services or security features;
    • Attempt to access non-public systems or data;
    • Submit unlawful, threatening, defamatory, harassing, or confidential third-party information;
    • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation;
    • Upload malware or engage in unauthorized data collection.

    We may take reasonable steps to protect the Services and users, including rate-limiting, access controls, and blocking abusive behavior.

    5) User submissions

    Content you submit (messages, attachments, form entries) is your responsibility. You represent you have the right to share it with us. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, transmit, and store your submission as needed to operate the Services, respond to you, comply with law (including FOIA), and maintain archives.

    6) Accounts (if applicable)

    If any feature requires an account, keep your credentials confidential and notify us of any suspected compromise. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms or to protect security.

    7) Notices specific to children

    8) Intellectual property

    Unless otherwise noted, site/app content, logos, and design elements are owned by or licensed to the Connecticut House Republican Office and are protected by applicable law. Linking to our public pages is permitted. Use of our logos or branding requires prior written permission except as allowed by law.

    9) Third-party links, tools, and services

    The Services may link to third-party websites or integrate third-party components (e.g., maps, video players, analytics, email services). We do not endorse nor control third-party sites/services and are not responsible for their content or practices.

    10) Changes to the Services

    Features may change or be discontinued without notice. We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

    11) Disclaimers

    To the maximum extent permitted by Connecticut law, the Services and all content are provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties of accuracy, completeness, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing on the Services constitutes legal advice.

    12) Limitation of liability

    To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Connecticut House Republican Office and its employees will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Services. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, this section applies to the extent permitted.

    13) Indemnification

    To the extent permitted by law, you agree to comply with applicable laws and be responsible for your use of the Services and submissions you make.

    14) Governing law & venue

    These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Venue and jurisdiction will lie in the appropriate state courts of Connecticut.
