House Republicans are proposing legislation to reverse the reciprocal convenience tax with New York that penalizes Connecticut residents who work remotely for New York-based employers. Currently, these residents pay income tax to New York despite working from their Connecticut homes, receiving only a partial credit from Connecticut. The proposal also allocates $2 million for legal action to fight for equitable tax treatment.

Local property taxes have climbed because the state hasn't kept education funding in step with inflation. Our legislation updates the ECS formula by raising the foundation amount from $11,525 to $18,681 over five years, building in automatic inflation adjustments, and requiring towns to pass those savings directly to property taxpayers.
