Rep. Lavielle and Colleagues to Host Citizen Activists for a Press Conference About Forced School Regionalization Bills

Public Hearing to Begin at 1 p.m. in the LOB

HARTFORD – State Rep. Gail Lavielle (R-Wilton, Norwalk, Westport) will host a press conference with fellow legislators this Friday, March 1st to discuss three forced school regionalization bills that are under consideration in Hartford:

  • S.B. 457, An Act Concerning the Size of School Districts
  • S.B. 738, An Act Concerning the Creation of Regional School Districts
  • S.B. 874, An Act Concerning Education Initiatives and Services in Connecticut (the governor’s bill)

The press conference will be held ahead of the Education Committee public hearing on these bills, which is scheduled for this Friday, March 1st, 2019 beginning at 1 p.m. A significant number of school administrators, teachers, students, local boards of education members, local and state officials, and members of the public are expected to testify. They have been invited to speak at the press conference prior to the hearing.
