Wicked Tulips Flower Farm Tour

Posted on May 17, 2023

Last week, I had a great visit at Wicked Tulips Flower Farm in beautiful Preston, Connecticut! Owners Jeroen and Keriann Koeman are in their third season of being open, and this farm is expected to draw in nearly 40,000 people to this small eastern Connecticut town, which is great for other businesses in proximity to the farm. The bulbs for these flowers are imported annually from Holland, where Jeroen calls home, and he brings back enough tulip bulbs to plant six acres of tulips each year! The farm employs about 200 seasonal workers and roughly 30 employees make up one shift at the farm to assist the thousands of visitors who come from across the northeast.

I learned so much about the amount of hard work that goes into operating this farm. New bulbs are planted each year in late October and the season typically last for about three weeks beginning the last week in April. With that said – Friday, May 12th was the last day of the year to tour this beautiful facility! The most impressive part of our visit was listening to Jeroen talk about the Love & Hope campaign that the farm takes part in. Each year there are 10,000 tulips that are given to our less fortunate neighbors in the area, and I think this is a beautiful way to spread the pure joy that this location brings to so many people.

I will make sure I visit again soon and support this local treasure right here in our district.
