On Tuesday, I was proud to stand with some of my fellow members of the House Republican Caucus where we unveiled our biennial budget proposal. This is a responsible balanced budget proposal that offers over $1 billion in tax relief to our residents and promotes sensible funding in several key areas. Our state has become too expensive for many families across out state, and it is imperative that we do everything we can to help our hard-working families and business owners succeed in the years to come.
Other key budget points include-
- Immediately cuts Connecticut income tax on working families
- Repeals the Highway Usage Tax (HUT)
- Create first-ever state child tax deduction for everyone, $2,000 deduction per child
- Eliminates sales tax on children’s clothing under $100
- Invests in firefighter training, creates $1 million support fund for families of fallen officers
- Holds rural towns harmless on ECS cuts
- Continues to expand CRISIS into additional regions
- Doubles funding for certain non-profits
- PFAS Remediation
