State Representative Brian Lanoue’s Statement on the Senate Passing Beach Pond Bill in Final Hours of 2024 Session

“After H.B. No. 5350 passed in the House on Monday night, I want to thank Senators Somers and Harding for their advocacy and fighting so aggressively in the final hours of session to get this vital piece of legislation through the senate. This is such an important bill for those who live on and utilize Beach Pond for family recreation and for the surrounding areas overall.

Now that the bill has passed both chambers, it is my hope that Governor Lamont will sign it into law. There have been many instances of reckless boating and operation of jet skis on the pond that put the homeowners, and those who use it for recreation at significant risk. This bill will take us another step closer towards holding those violators responsible by enabling proper enforcement of the entire pond.

I’ve been fighting so hard for years on this bill so Beach Pond can remain one of the best natural resources in Connecticut that all families and individuals can enjoy in a safe environment.

Again, I want to thank everyone for their hard work on getting us to this point.”
