During Thursday’s legislative session, while debating the extension of certain executive orders, Republicans introduced an amendment to restore parental choice and let parents make the decision on whether or not to have their children wear masks while in school. For two years now, extension after extension, many have had their lives increasingly disrupted due to Covid-19. With overall numbers decreasing and other states across the country easing mask restrictions, it is time we do that same.
We have heard often from our colleagues on the other side of the isle that – Connecticut leads the way. It is time to put the rhetoric aside and actually lead by allowing parents to make these decisions for their children. The governments, local boards of educations and other agencies need to do what is right and restore a parent’s rights to do what is right for their children. I will never stop advocating when it comes to putting my constituents and their families first.
