Representative Lanoue Attends Quilts of Valor Ceremony in Griswold

It was my honor to be at Veteran’s Park in Griswold on Tuesday morning and be part of a Quilts Of Valor Ceremony honoring some of our local service members. The purpose of Quilts of Valor is to recognize combat service members and veterans which provide comfort and healing to them. This program all started back in 2003 at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center when a soldier from Minnesota was presented a quilt after losing his leg in Iraq. Seventeen years later, the program is still going strong and fourteen veterans for our local area were recognized today for their sacrifices and service.
With so much uncertainty in our lives over the past several months, it was encouraging to get outside and gather as a community and pay tribute to those who helped this country what it is today. I appreciated being a part of today’s ceremony and look forward to participating in more over the coming years. Congratulations to all who received their Quilts of Valor today and thank you so much for all you have done for us.
