Rep. Lanoue Votes Against Fourth Lavish Public Employee Arbitration Award of 2019 Session

The string of poor fiscal votes by the legislature’s Democratic majority continues. Yesterday, all but five Democratic state representative in the House passed H.R. 23, which awarded the state’s tax attorneys with generous pay raises, bonuses and lavish benefits rarely afforded to their private sector counterparts. For the record, these individuals make an average $107K annually. This is the fourth contract approved by majority Democrats this year, and we expect another one next week. Meanwhile, Governor Lamont and House and Senate Democrats have proposed multiple tax increases, including tolls, to pay for these state expenditures. My Republicans colleagues and I continue to vote against these contracts and arbitration awards because we know the cost will eventually land on your shoulders, and that is something we cannot support.
