There is a proposal being considered in Hartford (Proposed Bill No. 5040) to establish an excise tax on ammunition at a rate of 35 cents per pound. I am against this proposal.
We have hunters, sportsmen, and everyday residents who purchase firearms to protect themselves in their own homes. We also have small business owners who sell these products to the individuals mentioned above. These are all law-abiding citizens who would be crushed by this new tax in various ways, and I will not stand for it.
There is a possibility of a public hearing on this concept in the near future. If and when that happens, I will provide details immediately so those of you who would like to have your voices heard can submit testimony or testify in person.
