On Friday, I had the opportunity to tour the Plainfield Police Department where I had a great discussion with Chief Suprenaut about expanding the CRISIS Initiative into Troop D. This program is a collaborative effort between law enforcement, mental health professionals, and many others to address the opioid epidemic. This issue has affected almost everyone in the 45th District in one way or another, which is why we must work together to help those struggling and save lives.
I also had the privilege of joining Sergeant Wolfburg for a ride-along. Seeing first hand and learning about what our law enforcement personnel deal with on a daily basis is eye-opening and humbling. Many of them work shifts throughout the night so we may sleep knowing someone is patrolling our neighborhoods and protecting our families.
I’d like to extend my heartfelt appreciation and admiration for all they do for the community.
