I was invited onto “Talk of Connecticut” WDRC this morning where I spoke with show host Brad Davis and former State Rep. Gary Byron about my camp counselor bill, which I introduce this year. The bill would require camps to conduct mandatory background checks on candidates who would be working with minors. There have been too many cases of child sexual abuse at overnight camps, and currently, CT has no laws requiring screenings for new hires. For me, this is a no-brainer – we cannot take chances with our kids.

Thank you to everyone involved in this process from the beginning, including State Rep. Robin Green – Ranking Member of the Committee on Children – and the bipartisan group legislators who have offered their guidance and support. I am confident we will get this bill passed and signed into law in the upcoming session.
