Read Across America 2023- Voluntown Elementary School

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in the Read Across America program once again at the Voluntown Elementary School on Wednesday morning! Having an opportunity to interact with the young people in our district is one of the best parts of this job! Students from kindergarten, first, & second grades joined me and enjoyed “Yertle the Turtle” from Dr. Suess. After the reading, the children asked me a few questions and they enthusiastically told me what they wanted to do when they grew up. The answers ranged from a nurse, to a firefighter, a hairdresser and much more. What was also fun was I got to read to them on “Whacky Wednesday”, with students and faculty alike participating in a very light-hearted morning at the school.

I want to thank the teachers, staff, and students at Voluntown Elementary School for allowing me some time during their busy day. Everyone was wonderful and this visit made my week!
