Public Hearing on Tolls Proposal – TOMORROW

Public Hearing on Tolls Proposal – TOMORROW
This article was archived from the previous WordPress site. Formatting and media should be close, but may not match the original post perfectly.

TOMORROW, Friday, January 31st, the Public Hearing in the Transportation Committee for the governor’s transportation plan, which includes a proposal for tolls on trucks.

    Public Hearing on Tolls Proposal

Where: Legislative Office Building, Room 1E, 300 Capitol Avenue, Hartford

When: TOMORROW, Friday, January 31st, 2020 beginning at 1:00 p.m.

This issue is very important to our district because one of the proposed locations is on I-395 in Plainfield. If this happens, we are looking at increased use of our local roads, including traffic, safety, and financial concerns. Additionally, trucks already pay high taxes to the state for use of our highways and bridges. If we force them to pay more, they will likely pass those expenses onto consumers for the goods they deliver.

Regardless of where you stand on the issue of tolls, this is your opportunity to make your voice heard, and I highly encourage you to do so. Your commitment and time given to providing testimony is greatly appreciated and much needed during this important legislative process.

    See below for details:

    • The first hour of the hearing is reserved for elected officials.

    • Speakers will be limited to three minutes of testimony.

    • Park wherever you find a spot.

    • If no spots are available, which happens periodically, you’ll be directed to a couple of nearby pay lots.

    • Come into the building through the front doors on Hungerford Street and come through security.

    • The hearing room is on the first floor off of the Atrium.

    • Restrooms and the cafeteria are on the first floor if you’d like something to eat or drink.
