    Despite all the adverse weather, I was highly impressed by the turnout in Sterling, Plainfield, Jewett City & Voluntown by the people of this district honoring all those who have fallen in defense of this country this past Memorial Day weekend. To members of our community out in the pouring rain together in solidarity is what this country is all about. There is a quote from President Abraham Lincoln that comes to mind every Memorial Day-

    “We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain – that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom – and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

    The price of liberty and freedom is great, may we never take it for granted nor ever forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice so we can continue to live in a free nation under God!
