It was another very proud moment for the 45th District Family this past Tuesday night! I was beyond honored to present a legislative citation to Griswold resident, Cadet Second Lieutenant Xavier Dietz, of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP). Cadet Second Lieutenant Dietz earned the distinguished Billy Mitchell Award, a significant milestone in the CAP Cadet Program. The Billy Mitchell Award was named after the World War pilot, who was revered as a fierce combat leader by his fellow veterans.
Considered a milestone, the Mitchell Award which was first given out in 1964, after completing the initial eight achievements of the program according to the Civil Air Patrol. To earn this high honor, cadets must study, complete, and pass a 100-question examination which covers various subject matter from leadership, theory, and aerospace. Cadets who receive this award have the opportunity to receive advanced credits along with various scholarships if they choose to enter the US Air Force.
I want to congratulate Xavier Dietz for this very impressive accomplishment. Thank you Xavier, for your service to our state and country. You make us all very proud!
