Griswold High School’s Matt McCoy Presented With Legislative Citation

Last week at Griswold High School, Senator Heather Somers and I had the pleasure of presenting a legislative citation to Matt McCoy, the newest champion from the 45th district.
At just 15 years old, Matt won the USAPL High School Nationals in Wisconsin and set five world records in bench press, squat, and deadlift, achieving an impressive total of 1,463 pounds across all three lifts. Beyond his athletic accomplishments, he excels academically as an honor student.
Matt is not only a remarkable athlete but also a great role model for Eastern Connecticut. Thank you, Matt, for inspiring us all. We are incredibly proud of you!
