Conservative Caucus to Hold Hearing for Workers Affected by Employment-related Vaccination Requirements

It was announced on Thursday, that the Conservative Caucus, in which I am a member of, will be holding a public hearing to give teachers and healthcare workers who have been impacted by COVID-19 vaccine requirements the opportunity to have their voices heard. This hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, September 22nd at the Legislative Office Building. With the increase in these requirements I urge you to speak out if you have been affected. The public has not had the opportunity to weigh in to this point and I believe that we, as a legislature need to do anything in our power to make this happen.

Conservative Caucus to Hold Hearing for Workers Affected by Employment-related Vaccination Requirements

HARTFORD—The General Assembly’s Conservative Caucus on Thursday announced it will hold a Sept. 22 public hearing at the Legislative Office Building to hear concerns from teachers and healthcare workers who say they have been negatively affected by COVID-19 vaccination requirements imposed by their employers.

The hearing will start at noon, and Conservative Caucus members await news of the room assignment after requesting the space from Legislative Management today.

“This is a group of people who are frustrated and feel as though their concerns are falling on deaf ears—that they have nowhere else to turn,” Rep. Mike France, Conservative Caucus chairman said. “Fortunately, simply ‘listening’ is the first requirement for anyone who signs up to serve in the General Assembly, and it’s a responsibility my colleagues and I take seriously. I look forward to the hearing and learning more about what these people have to say, and I hope other members of the legislature will join us.”

The capitol complex reopened to the public in July after being shuttered for 14 months. The legislature’s Reapportionment Committee held a public hearing there Sept. 8, and state Rep. Craig Fishbein, a member of the Conservative Caucus, said a return to normal business at the capitol will send a much-needed message to Connecticut residents.

“It’s hard to imagine that our state can regain that sense of normalcy that everyone craves if the very people charged with making the rules aren’t moving in that direction,” Fishbein said. “Regardless of how you feel about what these individuals have to say, this hearing represents another important step toward restoring the essence of what everyone appreciates about the state capitol—that it’s a place where citizens on any rung of the political spectrum share their ideas and concerns issues affecting them.”

Reps. France and Fishbein said they will share updated specifics about the public hearing on their web sites and social media accounts as it becomes available.
