A Decade of Community Action – Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Griswold PRIDE

On Friday, we celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Griswold PRIDE, a group that has been dedicated to fostering a drug-free environment by promoting awareness and services for those suffering from addiction. Joining me were several community leaders and advocates who are committed to our community. This was a fantastic way to celebrate a decade of excellence for Griswold PRIDE and their many partners. Lead by PRIDE Coordinator, Miranda Mahoney, I cannot say enough about the positive impact that this group has not only in Griswold, but across our local area.

In attendance with Miranda and other members of Griswold PRIDE past and present, was Griswold First Selectman, Tina Falck, along with Michael Asinas, who is the Associate Vice-President of Community Health Resource. Also taking part in the ceremony was Patrick McCormack, who is not only the Director of the Uncas Health District, but is also the PRIDE Chairman, along with Superintendent of Griswold Public Schools, Sean McKenna. Everyone who spoke acknowledged the many impacts Griswold PRIDE has had on our local community.

It was my honor to present Miranda with a Legislative Citation marking this 10th Anniversary of Griswold PRIDE. I have had the opportunity to present quite a few of these citations over the years, and this one was especially important to me. With the help of Miranda and PRIDE, we were able to expand the CRISIS Pilot Program Initiative, that has proven to be a model of excellence in the battle against the opioid epidemic and mental health disorders by bringing together our police, mental health professionals and community partners.

Please join me in wishing Griswold PRIDE a very Happy 10th Anniversary! Our community appreciates you all and everything that you do!

No matter how many years pass, that day—and the days that followed—will always remain etched in our hearts as one of the most challenging times for many of us as Americans. I […]
