HARTFORD— As the first full week of the 2023 legislative session comes to close, State Representative Brian Lanoue (R-45) is prepared for a long session that concludes on June 7, 2023. After his November 2022, election win, Rep Lanoue is looking forward to once again being the voice of his constituents of the 45th General Assembly District which includes the towns of Griswold, Ledyard, Lisbon, Preston, and Voluntown.
Rep. Lanoue has been assigned to three committees for the next two legislative sessions, including the Committee on Children, Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee, and the Veterans Committee. The Committee on Children has cognizance of all matters relating to children. During his tenure as a state representative, Rep. Lanoue has introduced legislation aimed at protecting children, including Public Act No. 21-82 An Act Requiring Background Checks For Certain Employees Of Youth Camps and Youth Sport Coaches, Trainers, and Instructors.
The Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to the Board of Regents for Higher Education and the Office of Higher Education, and public and independent institutions of higher education, private occupational schools, post‑secondary education, job training institutions and programs, apprenticeship training programs and adult job training programs offered to the public by any state agency or funded in whole or in part by the state. Rep. Lanoue has been very supportive of giving young entrepreneurs the educational foundation to bring new ideas and technology to the market place for a stronger Connecticut.
Finally, the Committee on Veterans’ and Military Affairs shall have cognizance of all matters relating to military and veterans’ affairs. Since his first year in the legislature, Rep. Lanoue has been enthusiastically supportive of our men and women in uniform, and will be a tireless advocate for those that live within his district.
