Connecticut governor weighs new tax on groceries, prescription drugs

“People throughout Connecticut are bracing themselves and their financial plans so they can manage the brunt of Governor Lamont and Connecticut Democrat lawmakers and their new taxes and proposals,” House Republican Leader Themis Klarides told Fox News. “Targeting groceries and medication to generate revenue is a terrible strategy.”

GOP leaders: Proposed plan would break up Amity High School

Republicans representing Amity Regional School District in the state’s House of Representatives announced their opposition this week to a bill introduced in the Senate to regionalize some of Connecticut’s school districts.

“The only proposals we’ve seen so far this year are proposals that are trying to bring more revenue into the state and none that are trying to save money,” Klarides said Tuesday outside her office.

Tree Removal along Route 15 (Wilbur Cross Parkway)

Tree removal operation will be performed on the Wilbur Cross Parkway (Route 15) northbound and southbound in Orange, Woodbridge, New Haven and Hamden, Saturday and Sunday, February 2-3, 2019. Work hours will be 6 a.m. to noon.
