ORANGE – Today, House Republican Leader Themis Klarides and State Reps. Charles Ferraro and Pam Staneski released the following statement regarding the state’s announcement to pull funding for the Orange Train Station Project.
“It is disappointing to see the Malloy Administration reverse their decision to fund the Orange Train Station design,” said the Orange House Delegation. “The mismanagement of transportation funds by Governor Malloy is now showing. The Orange Train Station would have created jobs and relieved stress placed on the Milford and West Haven Train Stations. Governor Malloy should be prioritizing transportation funding, and focusing on the busiest rail line in the country instead of wasting taxpayers’ money on a busway or new rail lines.”
Local and state lawmakers have been working on the Orange Train Station project for over a decade. Earlier this year, the state authorized funding to start design work for the Orange Train Station.
Governor Malloy recently announced that the state is running out of money to fund transportation projects. The House and Senate Republicans were able to pass a budget in September that made significant investments to the state’s aging transportation infrastructure but was vetoed by the governor.
